To celebrate the release of the second installment in the Rise of the Elohim chronicles, the Eye of Mares is going to go blog hopping like a headlining rockstar, multiple showings for over the course of two weeks, with a new page shared with each appearance, continuing from where the last one went off and today I get to host the latest page:

The Eye of Mares – Part 9

…“Right then, let’s do it.” Damien suddenly kicked the door open and charged into the room. His cohorts followed suit.

They expected to see a lad older than themselves sleeping in his bed. Instead the bed was disturbed, the sheet gone, pillows on the floor and the room’s occupant nowhere to be seen.

“He’s not here!” a bemused Thor remarked. A whimsical look marked his face.

“Then where is he?” Blaze probed.

“Who cares? Not when we have this!” Damien grinned excitedly as he spotted an arming sword, lying upon the mattress of the bed, the blade resting inside its sheath.  This was no ordinary sword.

Its blade was black, and bore the traditional white eye amongst a trio of triangles. A mark known as the Mark of the Watchers, resided close to the blade’s base. And on the actual hilt were round, encrusted diamonds.

“He’s forgotten his sword, what an idiot!” Damien laughed, before he advanced upon the weapon, only to have Thor halt his approach.

“I wouldn’t touch that if I were you!” Thor warned.

“Well, you’re not me, are you?” Damien spat out before he shoved the smaller Thor out of his way and snatched up the arming sword. “I will do whatever I want. After all, there isn’t anyone here to stop me!”

“Are you sure about that?” a new voice asked lightly, one that caught the gang off-guard.
