“Perfect Match” by Alexis Alvarez

AlexisAlvarezPerfectMatch            It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Alexis Alvarez. I’ve read almost every book and short story she’s written; so, it was with delight I accepted an advance copy of Perfect Match in exchange for an honest review.

From the first page of this sexy, romantic book I was hooked. Alvarez jumps right in to developing her characters and she does it expertly. In the first chapter when the owner of the Perfect Profiles dating service, Fia Martin, meets Morning Brew co-host Dylan Chambers, there’s electricity in the air. Fia is already scheduled to appear on the morning show alongside Connie Birnbaum who also owns a dating service, Matched by the Millions. When Dylan and Fia catch each other’s eye in a crowded bar the battle is on. Fia finds Dylan to be arrogant. However, she also thinks he is sexy and extremely good looking. Although he annoys her, she is physically attracted to him. When the day of the show arrives, Fia expects to use the opportunity to promote her rising business, but she is blindsided when the “star” of Morning Brew, Dylan’s co-host Chelsea, turns the promotional spot into a competition between the two women. Forced to agree to set Dylan up with the perfect date in a segment of the show called Who Does It Better, she and Connie agree to each provide three dates for the hot television star.

What follows is more than just a business woman trying to establish herself in trendy, ego centric Los Angeles. Pitted against Connie, who has been in the dating business for years, Fia must pull out all the stops to get the perfect match for the hard to please Dylan. Complicating matters is both her attraction to the man and his constant flirting with her.

Fia lets Dylan know from the beginning that she thinks he is conceited. What neither of them realize is their mutual attraction is growing in intensity. Thrown together as Fia tries to work her magic using a computer program she developed, the sexual tension builds. It’s almost inevitable these two will end up in bed sooner or later. Alvarez does an amazing job of developing their relationship. Keeping the adversarial camaraderie running throughout, Dylan and Fia do the dance of denial as she struggles to successfully set him up with one of her clients while she fights her own desire for him. Meanwhile, Connie is using her skills of intuition to find the woman of his dreams.

It’s fun to watch Dylan’s machinations as he breaks down Fia’s barriers. I couldn’t put this book down as each chapter brought unexpected surprises; romantic, sensual, and even humorous. Fia acquires a surprise ally who has a few tricks of her own.

There’s enough BDSM to raise even the most experienced lover’s temperature; all tasteful and integral to the story. Alvarez doesn’t waste time on gratuitous sex scenes; she’s busy building her plot and bringing the reader to a fulfilling climax. Best of all, there is an underlying theme in this book about the value of a person’s heart. In the end the reader learns love isn’t about how rich or beautiful a person is; it is about finding your soul mate based on the goals and integrity each person has.

Alexis Alvarez writes more than a spicy romance. She invests her characters and their experiences with an authenticity that entices her readers to return again and again for the next great book. I know I’ll eagerly be in line for the next release.

Perfect Match graphic 3

“She’s the matchmaker…he’s her sexy client. What could go wrong?

Fia Martin has a tough job: Find the perfect woman for arrogant, handsome Dylan Chambers, before her rival can do it––on national television. If Dylan declares her the winner, Fia’s match-making business will skyrocket.

Dylan is picky. He’s smug. He reminds Fia that he doesn’t believe in true love. The dates she sets up for him end in complete disaster. And every time she tells him to behave, he flirts with her shamelessly.

A stolen kiss turns to a night of unbelievable passion and the best sex of her life…but Fia knows that Dylan’s not interested in more than a fling, because he’s still going on dates for the challenge like nothing happened.

When Dylan chooses her competitor’s company for his final dream date in Hawaii, to a woman who looks perfect on paper, Fia figures she can kiss the trophy goodbye. The problem is that she’s about to lose her heart, too…to the one man who’s completely unavailable.”
