When they speak out against the rights

Of the poor

The displaced

The disabled

I will not stand silent

 

When they deny the rights

Of people of color

Of gender diversity

Of the health challenged

I will not stand silent

 

When they send so-called officials

To our schools

Our places of employment

Our homes

I will not stand silent

 

When they tell me I cannot speak the truth

I will not stand silent

I will shout to the world

I will send my cries to the heavens

I will raise my voice so loud

It will roar like thunder

But

I will never stand silent
