What Do You Like to Read?

What book could you read over and over again?

I have so many books I love. I’ve been reading since I was two and a half years old. That’s a lot of books. So, eliminating my early reads like The Cat in the Hat and Nancy Drew, I’ll move on to my adult favorites.

When I was about ten years old my father gave me the two books that had the greatest impact on my literary tastes. “The Unabridged Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” and “The Edgar Allan Poe Collection”. Heavy reading for a 10-year-old, but I ate them up like an ice pop on a hot summer day.

But, it was a movie that led me to what has been my longest-running favorite, “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Granted I love almost everything written by Stephen King, but the staying power of Harper Lee’s insightful observations of life in a small southern town still captivates me.

My early reading experiences have undoubtedly influenced my writing. My genre is primarily suspenseful thrillers. Granted I often toss in a little romance, and I’ve written my share of love stories. But, they don’t call me the Seductress of Suspense for no reason. I love to lead readers into my stories, then, add a surprise twist at the end. After all, everyone loves a surprise!
