Let me begin by saying I am not a big fan of BDSM but I am a big fan of the writing of Alexis Alvarez. I have enjoyed every book I have read that she has authored. It was with a degree of uncertainty that I began “Casey’s Choice”. I am delighted I took the leap. This is not just a book about “kinky” sex. This is the story of a young and talented woman who is straining against the restrictions life has placed on her, both privately and professionally.

Casey Reilly is an artist with a PhD who is working in an art gallery. Obviously over qualified for her position she is frustrated by the limits of her job. When she is inadvertently provided the opportunity to expand her sexual experiences she decides to take a chance. Assuming the identity of a model she resembles, she uses an invitation to an elite BDSM club she rescues from the trash.

What she discovers is a whole new world populated by wealthy and attractive people who welcome her to their group. The owner of the apartment where the event takes place is also an art collector and his residence is decorated with valuable collectible art work by notable artists. In addition Hunter is extremely striking and sexy and there is an immediate spark of attraction between them.

Hunter is not the only good looking man at the gathering. She also meets Max and finds she is also attracted to him. Although the men are friends they are very different in other ways. While still assuming the identity of “Sofia”, Casey observes members of the club engaged in a variety of sexual acts and finds she is excited by some and uncertain about others.

As the story progresses Casey finds she is attracted to both Hunter and Max. Meanwhile her professional life seems to drag on until a new client enters the gallery. Her success with that client causes her employer to take a closer look at the underappreciated girl and soon Casey finds she is moving up in the art world.

However as her life seems to be coming together, things happen that cause unexpected problems in her private life. This book is as much about sexual exploration as it is about learning to trust and take chances in life. Casey must learn to allow herself to look beyond appearances and peel away the layers to find the truths that lay beneath the surface.

This is not a book for those under eighteen or the conservative reader. But for those interested in a solid story with intense sexual situations it is a great read.
