Taken By The Huntsman (Spellbound Hearts Book 1)
by Mistral Dawn

Erotic fiction has become a popular category in books recently. Taken by the Huntsman by Mistral Dawn presents an even more interesting sub-genre, erotic fantasy fiction. In her first book of the Spellbound Hearts series she blends the magical world of Fairie and the creatures who live there with the sensuality and romance of erotica.
The female protagonist, Cassie, is a lonely woman who lives in a less than desirable part of her town. Caderyn, Erlking and leader of the Wild Hunt, is pursuing a criminal who has murdered a child and is fleeing justice in Fairie. This is not a new role for Caderyn; he has been bringing Fae criminals to justice for thousands of years. Suddenly Caderyn comes upon Cassie and immediately recognizes her as his Anamchara, or soul mate. The story that follows is one of passion and explicit sexual encounters as Caderyn gently guides Cassie in the ways of the Fae. Romantic and sensual, the story is an education in Fae mythology. I loved this book. It is the first of the genre I’ve read and I enjoyed so much I went on to read another of Mistral Dawn’s books.
Captivated By The Winter King (Spellbound Hearts Book 3) by Mistral Dawn

When I read that this third book in the Spellbound Hearts series dealt with domestic violence I opted to skip Book Two. Mistral Dawn handles the subject of spousal abuse effectively, relating the fear and desperation experienced by victims and survivors of Intimate Partner Violence. When Kate finally reaches the limits of her endurance of the abuse suffered at the hands of her fiancé, she flees in the middle of the night. A series of events lead her to run her car off the road propelling her into the magical world of Fairie. She is rescued in the woods by Ankou, King of the Winter Court and the fallen God of Death. He recognizes her as his soul mate or Anamchara. As with her earlier book in the series, this story is highly sexual with explicit descriptions of BDSM (Bondage, Domination, Sado-Masochism). The relationship between Ankou and Kate is completely consensual and the object is reciprocal sexual gratification based on pain and pleasure. It is interesting to follow Kate’s adjustment to this type of relationship following her physically abusive experiences with her fiancé. The graphic descriptions of sexual situations in this book may make it unsuitable for some readers.
Myka and the Millionaire by Alexis Alvarez

Alexis Alvarez presents the highly sexual story of Myka Thomas, a computer expert starting her own business, and Gabriel Chevalier, a millionaire who enjoys domination. As much a love story as an exploration of BDSM, the book examines Myka’s ability to be an independent business woman during the day and Gabriel’s submissive lover when she is in his home. It doesn’t hurt that Gabriel is both wealthy and a wonderful lover. Sexy and sweet, naughty and nice, the story presents an interesting insight into the world of BDSM. Tastefully done, this sexually graphic novel is not a book for the shy or easily offended. If you enjoy a love story with a twist this may be a book to add to your must read list.
