“On the Edge” by T.S. Krupa

Edge

“On the Edge” by T.S. Krupa is the story of widow Andy Parker and her daughter, Hayden Grace. While Andy struggles to balance life as a single mother who works full time, Hayden Grace struggles with lagging interest in snow-boarding. What had been her life-long passion suddenly seems to have lost its magical hold on her and Andy is concerned at this change in her daughter. Andy herself is dealing with being a widow; it has been six years since her husband Stefan had died. Although she has started dat
ing the memory of her late husband is vivid.
Things begin to change dramatically when Hayden Grace is chosen to take part in a national competition in Aspen. This can be a big turning point for the young girl. But even bigger changes are in store because Andy has been offered a job that would require mother and daughter move to another state leaving friends and family behind.
As the story follows the pair to the competition Hayden Grace becomes reinvested in her love of snow-boarding and meets a young man she is attracted to. In addition Andy meets Paul Westcott, one of the competition judges, and there is no denying there is an attraction between them.
“On the Edge” is not just a romantic tale it is a coming of age story for both mother and daughter. As they cope with the changes in their lives, they both grow as women. There is an excitement in reading about these two women who reach beyond the world they live in and open themselves to new experiences.
Written in an easy to read fashion, Ms. Krupa paints a picture of a loving mother and daughter who have relied on one another for six years. When the opportunity to allow others into their lives they must overcome uncertainty to welcome change. Hayden Grace is no longer a little girl and Andy has to let her grow up. In addition Andy must allow herself to let go of Stefan and finally move on to the possibility f a new love relationship.
“On the Edge” is an inspiring and sweet story that touched my heart. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it, especially for coming of age daughters and their sometimes concerned mothers.
